Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Assessment
An evidence-based read on platform fit, upgrade readiness, and delivery risk — before the budget is committed.
ERP decisions are expensive to make and far more expensive to reverse. Once finance, supply chain, and operations are running on a platform, the cost of discovering a poor fit is measured in years, not invoices. The Dexnen F&O Assessment is a fixed-scope, fixed-fee engagement that replaces assumption with evidence: what Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations will and will not do for your business, and what the work actually sequences into.

Who this is for
Legacy or fragmented ERP
You are running an older ERP — or several disconnected systems — and need to know whether F&O is a genuine functional and technical fit before committing capital.
On Dynamics AX
You are planning the move from AX to F&O and want the risk, effort, and remediation work quantified rather than discovered mid-project.
Live on F&O, but struggling
The platform is in production and underdelivering. You need an independent read on whether the problem is design, configuration, code, or adoption.
What we examine
The assessment is deliberately broad on the first pass and deep where risk concentrates. Across the engagement we review:
Business model, transaction volume, legal entity structure, and operational complexity
Current system landscape — core ERP, satellite applications, and integration surface
Manual workarounds and shadow processes that reveal where the current system fails
Functional fit against standard D365 Finance and Supply Chain Management capability
Configuration-versus-extension boundary: where standard is enough and where it is not
Customization footprint, overlayering exposure, and extension readiness of existing code
ISV solutions and third-party dependencies, including version and support posture
Data volume, data quality, and realistic migration exposure
Environment topology, ALM maturity, and release process discipline
Reporting, analytics, and downstream data consumption requirements
Security model and licensing alignment at a structural level
Delivery risk — team capacity, governance, decision rights, and change readiness
What you receive
Executive summary
Written for the people approving spend, not for engineers. Findings, verdict, and recommendation on a single readable page.
Findings & risk register
Every material issue documented, ranked by severity and business impact, with a recommended mitigation and an owner.
Sequenced roadmap
Phased plan with effort bands, dependencies, and milestone structure — executable with Dexnen or with any partner you choose.
Why this assessment is different
Independent by design
The recommendation is not tied to a build contract. If F&O is the wrong platform for you, the report says so.
Decision-grade, not descriptive
You get ranked priorities, effort bands, and a sequence — not a narrated inventory of what you already know.
Technical depth included
Code, ALM, and environment review sit inside the assessment. Most reviews stop at process interviews; that is where the expensive surprises hide.
How the engagement runs
Scoping call
Objectives, stakeholders, access, and success criteria confirmed. No cost, no obligation.
Discovery
Stakeholder interviews, process walkthroughs, and a guided review of the current environment.
Analysis
Functional and technical review, risk modeling, options analysis, and effort estimation.
Readout
Executive presentation, written report, prioritized roadmap, and a clear next-step plan.
Scope boundaries
This is an assessment, not a design engagement. Detailed solution design, data models, and build estimates are scoped separately.
Where system access is required, it is read-only and governed entirely by your security and compliance policies.
No commitment to a downstream implementation is created by this engagement, and none is implied.
Frequently asked
We haven't selected an ERP yet. Is this still relevant?+
Yes — that is one of the strongest use cases. The assessment evaluates whether D365 Finance & Operations fits your business and scale before you commit to a platform, and it documents the reasoning so the decision survives scrutiny later.
Do we get cost and timeline figures?+
You receive high-level effort bands, a phased timeline, and delivery options sufficient for executive decision-making. Detailed build estimates require design work and are scoped separately.
Will you need access to our systems?+
In most cases, limited read-only access materially improves the quality of findings — particularly around customizations, integrations, and environment health. All access follows your internal security and compliance requirements, and the assessment can proceed on interviews and documentation alone if access is not available.
Is this a sales process for an implementation?+
No. The deliverable is decision clarity. Any subsequent delivery work is defined, scoped, and contracted separately, and you are under no obligation to use Dexnen for it.
How much disruption should we expect internally?+
Typically six to ten hours of stakeholder time across the engagement, concentrated in the discovery week. We work around your close calendar and operational peaks.
Start with clarity, not a contract
Tell us about your current systems and where you are trying to get to. We will confirm scope on a short discovery call and recommend the right assessment depth.
