D365 F&O Performance Review
Find the queries, batch jobs, and code paths costing your business hours — and fix the ones that actually matter.
Performance problems in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations are rarely mysterious once you look at the telemetry — but most organizations never do. Instead they add hardware, move jobs to the overnight window, and quietly accept that month-end takes as long as it takes. This review measures where the time is going, ranks the causes by business impact, and separates the fixes worth doing this month from the ones worth doing at all.

Who this is for
Month-end keeps slipping
Close is running long, batch windows are overflowing into the business day, and the trend is going the wrong way.
Users are complaining
Key forms, inquiries, or postings are slow enough that people have built workarounds around the system.
Growth is outpacing the platform
Volume, entities, or transaction counts have grown and you need to know what breaks first and when.
Where we look
The review is telemetry-led. We start from measured behavior in your environment and work back to cause, rather than starting from a checklist of best practices.
Platform and environment telemetry, including trace data and diagnostic signals over time
Long-running and repeatedly executing queries, with plan analysis and cost attribution
Missing, redundant, and unused indexes, plus statistics currency
Row-by-row processing where set-based operations are available
Batch framework configuration: threading, grouping, priority, and window contention
Batch job design — jobs that should be split, merged, retired, or rescheduled
Locking, blocking, and deadlock patterns under realistic concurrency
Number sequence configuration and its effect on high-volume posting
Custom code hot paths, including loops over data and unnecessary round trips
Data entity and integration throughput, including import and export patterns
Form and page load behavior for the interactions users touch most
Data volume and retention pressure on the tables driving the worst performance
What you receive
Measured findings
Each issue documented with the evidence behind it, the affected process, and the observed cost in elapsed time.
Ranked remediation backlog
Quick wins separated from structural work, each with effort, expected gain, and delivery risk stated plainly.
Verification plan
The before-and-after measurements to run after each fix, so improvement is proven rather than asserted.
How this differs from a health check
Measured, not inferred
Findings are tied to observed execution data in your environment. Generic tuning advice is cheap and rarely moves the number that matters.
Ranked by business impact
A query running badly a thousand times a day outranks a spectacular one that runs monthly. The backlog reflects that.
Includes the code
Custom X++ hot paths are reviewed alongside the database layer. Most stubborn performance problems live at the seam between the two.
How the engagement runs
Scoping call
Confirm the painful processes, business impact, environments, and telemetry availability.
Instrumentation
Collect telemetry and execution data across a representative period, including a peak.
Analysis
Cause attribution, plan and index review, code hot-path review, and impact ranking.
Readout
Findings walkthrough, prioritized backlog, quick wins, and a verification plan.
Scope boundaries
The review identifies and ranks causes. Implementing the fixes is a separate remediation scope, which can be delivered by Dexnen or by your existing team.
Findings depend on telemetry covering a representative period. A quiet week produces a thinner report, so timing is agreed during scoping.
Infrastructure sizing and Microsoft-managed platform capacity are outside scope, though the report will identify where they are the binding constraint.
Frequently asked
Can you review our sandbox instead of production?+
Partially. Code and index findings transfer well; concurrency, locking, and batch contention do not, because they depend on real load. Where production telemetry is unavailable we say clearly which findings are provisional.
Do you need to run anything intrusive on our system?+
No. Collection is read-only and uses standard diagnostic tooling. Nothing is deployed to production as part of the review.
Will you fix the problems you find?+
The review deliverable is the ranked backlog. Remediation is scoped separately once you have decided which items are worth doing — and some clients hand the backlog to their own team.
What if the root cause is an ISV product?+
We say so, with the evidence, so you can take it to the vendor. That conversation goes much better with measurement attached.
How quickly can we expect to see improvement?+
The quick-win tier is usually deployable within a sprint and often produces the majority of the early gain. Structural items are staged deliberately across releases.
Stop guessing where the time goes
Tell us which processes hurt and when. We will confirm what telemetry is available and scope the review around your peak, not around a quiet week.
